And the celebration began. Actually, it didn’t really begin as I intended, but that’s ok. I was planning on luring S downstairs (where I had decorated and set things up for his birthday as a surprise) and then taking his picture as he walked in. However, he woke up and got out of bed… I thought he was just going to the bathroom because it was still pretty early. Waaaay too early for him to actually be getting out of bed on a Saturday morning. But he was actually going to get his laptop from downstairs. So he came back up with a big smile on his face and asked, “Is that for me?!?!” Haha. No… it’s for the other person in the house whos birthday it is today
So he was surprised. We both went downstairs and he made some calls to his family and friends. Then I made coffee and we had cake and fruit for breakfast and opened his presents.
I ate the other half of the Hami melon. It turns out that the Hami melon looks and tastes a lot like cantaloupe – only slightly crunchier and sweeter.

We had our favorite coffee to celebrate – Dunkin Donuts!!

I lit the candles, sang happy birthday, and made him make a wish and blow them all out!

Then the present opening began. He got a few, but I think his favorites were the socket wrench set:

And a framed photo collage I made with pictures of us, JB, and some of our symbols:

After the festivities and chocolate cake for breakfast, we went…. GO KARTING! S has been wanting to do this for a while (as have I) so I took him there. It was expensive, but I prepared myself ahead of time by looking at the prices so I didn’t have a heart attack on site. I told him that I was paying for every single thing today, no questions asked. I was wondering whether or not I should take a tranquilizer before we left the house, knowing all we would be doing… but decided against it. HA!
On the way there, I ate a Luna bar. This new white chocolate macadamia nut flavor is my favorite!

I wish I had taken some pictures at the go karting place, but I put all my stuff into a locker so didn’t have my camera or my cell phone
But you can use your imagination to see the two of us in purple suits and big helmets. I used one of their helmets, S brought his own from his motorcycle riding.
After go karting we were starving and tired, so we went out to dinner at one of our favorites – Sonoma Chicken Coop. I got, as usual, the Prawn and Avocado salad. And it was, as usual, delicious! Sorry, I was too busy enjoying myself to remember to take a pic… again.
We rented “The Dark Knight” – S loves Batman and hasn’t seen it yet. For dessert, I had some more chocolate brownie birthday cake with some mint chocolate chip ice cream:

Now I’m off to work, and maybe have some more cake… it’s a deployment night for work so could be a long one. I think that S had a great birthday, so I’m so happy!!!
