It takes two

When you were a little kid, did your parents ever put their hands over your ears when they were about to say something “adult” that they didn’t want you to hear, and then say “EARMUFFS!!”  My parents used to do that.  Today is one of those days that I wish I had somebody to give me earmuffs because I’m tired of listening to everyone.  Just one of those days.

It started with my meetings first thing in the morning.  I was up for my first meeting at 7:30, while S stayed in bed because he was up until 5am finishing his final assignment for school.  He didn’t get out of bed until almost 10am, and then rushed out the door because he was really late to work.  I had meetings almost straight through until 2pm, with a one hour break.  But what did I do in that one hour break?  Like a good girlfriend, I proofread S’s approximately 17-page paper final assignment and sent him the revisions.  More listening, although technically it was reading so listening on paper vs listening to someone’s voice.

I think that I only managed to get through the morning because of this:

coffee

which I actually had x 2 because it was such an aggravating morning.  #2 was soon followed by this:

nectarine

also x 2.  Yes, I seemed to do things in pairs today.  Just call me Noah’s Ark… Two at a time, baby.

Lunch was:

turkey salad

  • romaine lettuce
  • egg whites
  • cauliflower
  • onions
  • turkey
  • cheddar cheese
  • almonds
  • olive oil and balsamic vinegar

With my staple snackey of Kashi GoLean and Fiber One.

Going to the gym was a welcome break, because I could put on my iPod and not have to listen to anyone else.  Except even at the gym, they were playing the music over the loudspeaker really loud today, so I couldn’t even listen to my iPod because I could hear both playing at the same time and that was sooooo annoying.  So off came the ipod.  I did 35 minutes on the stepmill (level 12, fat burning program.)  I was really hot and sweaty today when I was done, even more than usual (which is bad enough.)  I think the stress and aggravation was sweating out of me.

When I got home, I made a masterpiece of a strawberry shortcake:

with:

Super yum.  So super yum… you guessed it… I had seconds.  Gotta keep with my two-of-a-kind theme.

When S got home, I got to listen to him tell me everything he learned about Steve Wozniak from a book on CD about him that he has been listening to.  The guy sounds like a one-of-a-kind, prankster genius.  I guess I should have known that based on all that he has accomplished, but hearing the specifics definitely confirmed it.  Especially hearing the specifics for 2 hours which was how long it took for S to tell me it all.  Which is pretty amazing considering the fact that he has only listened to the book on CD for his round trip to work today, one day – which is approximately 2 hours.  So that means he must have told me every single thing that the CD told him.  Either that or he talks really slow.  Or just way too much.  Either way, I just sat and listened, more.

I was pretty full from my strawberry shortcakes, so dinner was veggies with egg whites and hummus, and an omelette with laughing cow cheese:

And dessert was mint chocolate chip ice cream, again this x 2.  Ugh, this is getting old.

I had my weekly meeting for work, and now am taking my earmuffed grumpy, two-of-a-kind self and going to bed.  Where I will likely have to listen some more – to S snoring.  G’night y’all.
