After being quite a bitter grump the past few days, I decided that today was going to be a happy day. So I was going to start it with a happy breakfast.
A nutella sandwich with a banana smile. But then when I was looking at it, I thought it was missing something…..
A clementine nose, of course! A happy start to my happy day. That’s banana #1 for the day, in case you were keeping track
Work kept me very busy today. That always makes me very happy and makes the day go fast. Lunch break was taken for this monster:
Huge salad with romaine, broccoli, egg whites, Veggie Patch portabella garlic burger, goat cheese, and olive oil/vinegar.
Mid-afternoon I took my gym break. Even though I went at that time, when people are supposed to be at work, it was still packed
I hate the month of January at the gym. All the New Years resolutioners pack the gyms and take my machine! Luckily, I got a stepmill and wasn’t relegated to the squeaky stepper.
When I work out, I sweat a LOT. It’s pretty disgusting. And today, it seemed to be even worse than usual. I don’t know if it’s because there were so many people at the gym in close proximity, or if it was warmer in there… or if it was just one of those days. But I was drenched by the time I was done.
I want you to know, I came up with the title of this post all by myself. That’s what my dad used to call me after the gym
But just for kicks, I googled “sweaty”. And here’s one of the first things I found – an article from the UK calling America Fererra a sweaty Betty.
Poor girl. Those Brits have no mercy!
Today I also did some self examination. I tend to pick on S a lot. There are a few things that I don’t like, and I harp on them over and over. But that little thing is not what is really bothering me. And he knows this. He said to me, “If I changed this one thing, or that thing, you would just find something else. You are looking for something to upset you.”
It’s the same thing that I do with food and other aspects of my life. The real things that I need to change to be happier in my life seem so big and overwhelming. When I think about making a change in those areas, I get scared and anxious. So what do I do? I pick at little things, things that I can control and/or focus on. There are a couple of problems with this. First of all, it hurts relationships in my life. With family, with friends, with S. But more importantly, because I’m focused on little, stupid things, I never actually make any big changes and fix the big problems.
So I am going to make more of an effort now to focus on the real problems. When I get upset and want to turn to food or yell at S for something, I am going to take a step back. Figure out what is really bothering me and making me unhappy at that time.
Ok. After gym was a fruit bowl. A mango and a banana. (Number two! Number two!!!)
Mango is delicious, but I hate preparing it. It is such a pain to peel and then to get the stupid seed out. And once you peel it, it is super slippery. It may have jumped out of my hands once or twice and did a kamikaze dive on the kitchen floor. But you know I still ate it. 5 second rule!
Dinner was quick, easy, and good. Salad with crab, avocado, goat cheese and flax seeds.
And dessert was another banana split. S only ate about 1/4 of his Dairy Queen banana split last night, so continued on it tonight. So of course I had to make my own to compete.
Only I ate every single bite… Whoever heard of eating 1/4 of a banana split?!?!
Also, my exciting find of the day. Check out what I got at the store… a new Kashi cereal!
Since I am officially obsessed with all thinks Kashi, I can’t WAIT to try this. Review to come.
PS: If you were counting, I got 3 bananas in today. Not as good as yesterday, but I have to finish them up tomorrow. I think I saw a brown spot on one today!!!
Do you sweat a lot at the gym? Are you a sweaty Betty???
